Role Snapshot

Payment Specialist responsible for analyzing and reconciling electronic digital payments across multiple platforms (credit card, PayPal, eGiftCards, eWallet, campaigns) for Scholastic's various business units. The role ensures accurate financial data management and resolves payment processing issues while maintaining PCI compliance and data confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities: Reconcile digital payments for Book Club, Magazines, Education, and Book Fairs by analyzing settlements, refunds, adjustments, disputes, and chargebacks. Troubleshoot payment processing and operational issues, collaborate with programmers on root cause analysis, and maintain current databases, spreadsheets, and reporting to meet deadlines.
Skills & Tools: Advanced Excel spreadsheet creation and maintenance, proficiency with financial systems (Fusion, Oracle EBS, AS400, CIS), strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must demonstrate reliability, adaptability, and commitment to PCI compliance and security guidelines.
Qualifications: Computer experience required with working knowledge of at least one financial system (Fusion, Oracle EBS, AS400, CIS). Knowledge of Collections and/or Accounts Receivable functions is required.

Description: Analyze and complete reconciliation of all electronic digital payments tied to credit card, PayPal, eGiftCards, eWallet, & Campaigns. Data including, but not limited to settlements, refunds, adjustments, disputes, inquiries and chargebacks. Reconcile digital payments for Scholastic Book Club, Magazines, Education, and/or Book Fairs. Troubleshoot any digital payment processing issues and/or operational issues. Work with programmers to identify root causes and perform corrective actions. Must always be confidential due to privileged information and customer data. Prioritize workload to ensure all databases, spreadsheets, and reporting are kept current and meet all deadlines. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Computer experience required

  • Ability to create and maintain Excel spreadsheets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following systems required: Fusion, Oracle EBS, AS400, and/or CIS
  • Knowledge of Collections &/or Accounts Receivable functions required
  • Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in assigning priorities, meeting deadlines, & sound decision making
  • Proficient working alone and as part of team
  • Adaptable to change
  • Exceptional work ethic
  • Above average attendance required
  • Commitment to follow all PCI Compliance and Security Guidelines. Acceptance of other duties as assigned.
