Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Solutions Data Architect to join our data architecture team. This individual will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise data solutions across cloud platforms, with a focus on Snowflake, AWS, and modern data governance and analytics tools. Experience in education technology and familiarity with data privacy and compliance frameworks (e.g., FERPA, SOC 2) is highly valued.
Essential Functions:
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective data architecture solutions using Snowflake and AWS
- Lead the design and development of modern ELT/ETL pipelines using DBT and complementary tools
- Define, implement, and enforce data governance standards using tools such as OneTrust, Monte Carlo or Alation
- Partner cross-functionally with business stakeholders, data engineers, analysts, product managers, and security teams to translate needs into effective data solutions
- Ensure all data systems are designed to meet privacy regulations and compliance standards (e.g., FERPA, SOC 2, GDPR)
- Optimize cost and performance of cloud-based data workloads
- Enforce full lifecycle development practices including testing, deployment, and maintenance
- Mentor team members and lead architecture reviews, design sessions, and best practice initiatives
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 2 – 4 Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. This role will supervise and mentor a small team of data professionals, including data engineers and junior architects, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Certificates and Licenses: Relevant certifications (e.g., Snowflake SnowPro, AWS Solutions Architect, or data governance certifications such as OneTrust) are a plus and may be considered favorably.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- 8–10 years of progressive experience in data architecture, engineering, or data platform design
- 3-4 years of hands-on experience with Snowflake in a production environment
- Proficiency in AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Redshift, IAM, Glue, and cloud-native security practices
- Deep understanding of modern data architecture principles and best practices
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (FERPA, GDPR) and audit/compliance standards (SOC 2)
- Ability to lead enterprise-scale architecture initiatives aligned with strategic business objectives
- Excellent collaboration, leadership, and consultative communication skills
- Experience and familiarity with information security frameworks
- Proven ability to design enterprise-scale data architecture that aligns with business strategy
- Strong ability to collaborate with IT teams and across business stakeholders
- Experience estimating timelines and resource needs
- Expert knowledge of metadata management and related tools
- Excellent communication, presentation and leadership skills with consultative mindset
- Advanced troubleshooting skills
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency
- Ability to travel 10% of the time
- Ability to clear required background check
desired Qualifications:
- Direct experience in EdTech or working with sensitive educational data is highly desirable
- Experience leading large-scale data modernization initiatives in both consultative and technical leadership roles
- Familiar with DBT (Data Build Tool) and modern ELT frameworks
- Familiarity with modern BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau
Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
- We anticipate the salary range to be $113,073.75- $168,000.00. An individual’s compensation can vary based on several factors which include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
