Interns will be placed with a department in Think Together’s Home Office based on their academic background, professional skills, interests, and goals. Under the mentorship of designated staff members, interns will work both independently and collaboratively with their departments on projects that support Think Together’s mission and operations. Interns will gain a broad understanding of how a particular department functions within the context of a large nonprofit organization and will develop skills and knowledge related to their academic and professional goals. Interns will also have opportunities to attend regular staff speaker series and professional development sessions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision and mentorship of IT staff, the intern will:
- Assist in tagging, labeling, and logging equipment into the inventory management system (Freshservice), to learn how enterprise organizations track hardware assets.
- Support the device check-in/check-out process by shadowing and assisting team members, gaining insight into asset control and lifecycle planning.
- Observe and assist with physical inventory audits and learn how discrepancies are reconciled within asset management systems.
- Learn the basics of device preparation and setup by helping assemble deployment kits for new hires or site rollouts.
- Participate in hardware decommissioning, including supervised data-wiping and recycling processes.
- Join weekly Employee Productivity Team meetings to gain exposure to team planning, technical discussions, and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with Helpdesk and Inventory teams to learn how IT operations align with broader organizational goals.
MENTORSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
- The intern will be assigned a dedicated mentor within the Employee Productivity Services Team.
- Weekly priority check-ins will provide feedback, support, and coaching.
- The intern will be invited to participate in department meetings, interdepartmental sessions, and team site visits when appropriate.
- Interns will also attend Think Together’s organization-wide New Hire Orientation and may join other intern development sessions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor’s degree in progress – Candidates must be at least a rising junior or senior in college, having completed at least 2 years of undergraduate coursework preferably with coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. • Strong attention to detail and and ability to follow structured processes• Desire to work collaboratively, with an openness to feedback and desire to grow professionally • Passion and enthusiasm for education, nonprofit administration, and/or community service.
• Interest in IT operations, hardware systems, or nonprofit technology support. COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Familiarity or willingness to learn IT asset management software such as Freshservice.
- Basic understanding or interest in device management tools like Microsoft Intune is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Word, Outlook) for documentation and communication.
- Comfortable using online collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
- Ability to quickly learn new software and adapt to changing technology needs.

Hours/Location • Start date: June 2026 • End date: 10-12 weeks from start date or in alignment with college or university requirements • 15-25 hours per week
