Role Snapshot

The Purchasing Agent manages procurement operations for the Exploratorium's Exhibits group, sourcing goods and services to support the production of interactive exhibits and creative assets. This role bridges communication between production staff, vendors, and the accounting department to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.

Key Responsibilities: Manage requisition requests, source goods and services, create purchase orders, and maintain vendor databases while facilitating technical communications between vendors and internal teams. Coordinate invoice matching with the Accounting department, build long-term vendor relationships, and ensure proper receipt and routing of incoming materials.
Skills & Tools: Strong communication and organizational abilities, proficiency with ERP systems (Rootstock, Netsuite), accounting software, and relational databases, ability to read technical drawings, and experience working both independently and collaboratively.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, economics, accounting, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience, plus minimum three years of direct procurement, supply chain management, or accounting experience preferably in R&D or production settings.
Location: San Francisco, California
Compensation: $41–$43/hr
