Role Snapshot
The Head Custodian oversees all custodial operations and staff at the Exploratorium museum in San Francisco, ensuring high cleaning standards across facilities during day, evening, and weekend hours.
Key Responsibilities: Perform daily custodial duties, assign and train custodial staff on protocols, operate and maintain cleaning equipment, monitor work quality, manage supply inventory, and coordinate with janitorial contractors.
Skills & Tools: Required skills include team leadership and performance monitoring, strong interpersonal communication, equipment operation and repair, knowledge of MSDS and hazmat regulations, and ability to lift/carry minimum 25-35 lbs with physical agility.
Qualifications: High school diploma required with seven years of custodial experience. Ability to communicate in ASL, Spanish, or Chinese is a preferred plus.
Location: San Francisco, California
Compensation: $27/hr
