Summary

The Payroll Systems Analyst 3 provides advanced technical support for Oracle EBS financial and HR systems, managing configurations, integrations with third-party solutions, and serving as a bridge between business users and IT development teams at Ohio University.

Key Responsibilities: Configure and maintain Oracle HR and financial modules, troubleshoot system integrations with external applications (Workforce, PeopleAdmin, Jaggaer, Concur), provide Tier 3 support for Financial & HR Help Desks, and participate in system upgrades, implementations, and testing. Develops reports using OBI and other tools, gathers business requirements, and translates them into technical solutions.
Skills & Tools: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, project management experience, and proficiency with Oracle EBS, system configuration, data integration, and reporting tools. Knowledge of financial and HR business processes is essential.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related field typically required with 5+ years of experience in financial systems, Oracle EBS, or similar enterprise resource planning environments. Experience with payroll, HR systems, and third-party system integrations highly preferred.
Location: Athens, Ohio, United States
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is $70,000 – $92,000/year based on title, seniority, and location.

Job Description

The Payroll Systems Analyst 3 is responsible for supporting our Financial Systems configuration in Oracle EBS and the integrations with our third party and custom solutions. This includes system setups, troubleshooting, and other production support related items. Also provides tier 3 support for the Financials & HR Help Desks related to questions about our Financial & HR systems.


Additionally, this position will work closely with others in Financial & Administrative Systems team to support the needs of our functional owners and perform testing related to our system changes. This position serves as a liaison between the business/end users and IT systems development teams for business needs requiring IT based solutions and includes the following duties as outlined below.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • System Configuration and Interfaces – will perform systems maintenance in Oracle HR and financial modules. Also involved in interfaces of information to/from our third party systems (which includes but is not limited to Workforce, PeopleAdmin, Jaggaer, Concur) and resolution of any integration issues/errors. Defines data feeds to other university system providers, as well as external constituents (e.g., retirement systems, benefits providers,etc.). Serves as primary support to the operation of the university’s financial and HR systems as assigned. Provides Tier 3 support for issues and applications assigned to position responsibility.
  • Participation in Systems Initiatives, such as release upgrades or new system implementations or initiatives, (e.g., Oracle module for finance and HR, and third party apps like Workforce, PeopleAdmin, Jaggaer, Concur and a number of custom applications). Assist in the testing, documentation, and implementation of system changes, as well as documenting the relationships between various components of the application systems (i.e., business processes, data, and applications). Works to identify business needs, conducts requirements gathering, and defines scope and objectives of project. Makes recommendations for solutions or improvements to business processes that can be accomplished through new technology or alternative uses of existing technology. Works to translate business requirements into application requirements for system design, configuration or integration to other systems.
  • Develop reporting and pulling disparate sets of information through various reporting tools (both within the applications as well as OBI reporting tool). Will be involved in testing changes to our reporting subject areas and creation or changes to any of our reports to ensure appropriate results are obtained. Will be asked to pull information in response to audit and public records requests. Will also be involved in pulling data for analysis, benchmarking, and metrics (ex., HelioCampus).
  • Use knowledge of the system or system module to explore enhancement features and use the system functionality to guide the business process design. This prevents design of business processes that would not function properly with the standard functionality of the system involved thereby avoiding customization and focusing on configuration decisions that can be made to achieve desired results.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Candidate should also possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills, and project management experience.

The university is posting both positions to ensure a sufficient applicant pool to fill this need. The hiring department will first consider applicants from the higher-level position. If the applicant pool does not yield a successful candidate, the applicant pool from the lower-level position will then be evaluated.   • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Communications or related
  • Minimum of 6 years of Oracle experience; knowledge of and experience with Oracle Financials and one or more of the Oracle Financials Modules, including: Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Internet Expenses, Grants, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management, Labor Distribution, or Payroll/Human Resources; experience and proficiency with Oracle Query tools(e.g. SQL, TOAD, OBI)
  • Minimum of 6 years of related work experience in Payroll utilizing an ERP such as Oracle, SAP, Peoplesoft or similar experience.
