The Learning Environment Specialist supports schools nationwide in designing and implementing learning spaces equipped with furniture and materials that meet diverse learner needs. This role combines education expertise with design skills to create functional, curriculum-aligned environments.

Key Responsibilities: Review education space requests, interpret blueprints, and develop furniture and layout plans based on enrollment and functional requirements. Create 2-D and 3-D drawings, renderings, and design deliverables while selecting appropriate products for indoor and outdoor classroom environments and partnering with colleagues to present solutions to educators.
Skills & Tools: Requires exceptional attention to detail, creative problem-solving, proficiency in 2-D and 3-D design and rendering, and thorough knowledge of early learning and K–12 educational standards. Strong communication skills and goal-oriented approach to space design and product selection are essential.
Qualifications: Ideal candidate possesses thorough knowledge of early learning and K–12 standards and curricula with demonstrated design expertise. Experience in educational environment design, product selection for classroom settings, or related fields preferred.
Location: In-Person - Carson, CA
Compensation: $55K–$75K/yr (estimated)

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Learning Environment Specialist to join our Product Services team. In this role, you will support schools across the country as they create learning environments filled with furniture and materials that serve a wide range of learners. The position also requires employing education expertise to create 2-D and 3-D drawings of environments that align with curriculum, licensing and other essential standards. Applicants should have exceptional attention to detail, creative problem-solving skills and a goal-orientated approach to designing ideal spaces for learning and development. The ideal candidate possesses thorough knowledge of early learning and K–12 standards and curricula.

A day on the job looks like this:

  • Reviewing requests for education spaces—including reading and interpreting blueprints, developing plans based on student enrollment and selecting furniture that meets aesthetic and functional needs
  • Creating drawings, renderings and other design deliverables that clearly communicate design intent 
  • Performing in-depth product selection for indoor and outdoor classroom environments, including desks, tables, chairs, storage units, carpets, supplemental learning materials and other essential assets
  • Partnering with colleagues to present Lakeshore’s vision to educators and administrators while thoughtfully addressing questions and concerns
