Role Snapshot
The Ontology Engineer develops and manages knowledge structures for K-12 education at NWEA/HMH, ensuring seamless integration across data systems and supporting cross-functional teams with ontological solutions. This role is pivotal in shaping the organization's knowledge structure and facilitating better data organization and knowledge discovery.
Skills & Tools: Proficiency in ontology modeling languages (RDF, OWL, SHACL) and vocabularies (SKOS); strong knowledge of SQL/SPARQL, semantic data integration, and programming in Python or Java. Demonstrated ability to perform quality assurance, collaborate across teams, and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Qualifications: Advanced degree in philosophy, computer science, information science, quantitative field, or equivalent experience; preferred qualifications include experience with knowledge graphs and strong software engineering practices.

Compensation: $90K–$103K/yr
