The Role:
The Controller will lead the global Accounting organization, playing a vital role in developing new processes and procedures as the Company matures. He or she will manage employees within General Accounting, AP/AR, and Revenue, including a small team in India. The Controller will leverage NetSuite in developing process efficiencies for scale and better internal controls. The qualified candidate will have experience working in both early-stage and larger established companies and will be expected to bring best practices from both types of environments.
What you will do:
- Responsible for all aspects of accounting; Lead month-end close, revenue accounting (ASC 606), G/L, cash management, equity/debt accounting, tax compliance, consolidation, and reporting.
- Develops and maintains effective internal controls over financial reporting, including preparation of account reconciliations, supervisory review of transactions and staff training. Contributes financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Preparations of the monthly and yearly consolidated financial statements (US GAAP).
- Research technical accounting issues to ensure compliance with Company policies and GAAP guidance on various areas including goodwill, investments, leases, share-based compensation, revenue recognition, foreign currency, software CAPEX, and prepare related white-paper documentation.
- Facilitate/coordinate the process of implementing new standards and accounting changes to ensure the Company is prepared to comply at the necessary time.
- Manage annual and periodic audit engagements including timely and accurate preparation of audit which includes footnotes to the financial statements and consolidations.
- Establish and maintain effective internal control procedures to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial information. Conduct regular reviews and internal audits of financial processes to identify areas of improvement and efficiency.
- Design, document, and implement finance and accounting processes and systems.
- Collaborate with FP&A to analyze and summarize business and financial results for senior management.
- Contribute to the fiscal soundness, operating effectiveness, and regulatory compliance of the organization.
- Build and develop a high-performance team, establish, and continuously improve business processes and procedures to drive scalability in a high growth environment.
- Lead and grow others; remain aware of each person’s career goals; hold development discussions; and provide meaningful tasks and assignments to promote development.
Experience, Competencies, and Technical Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. CPA certification is strongly preferred.
- 9+ years of experience, including in a senior level accounting role.
- Significant experience in public accounting and large US-based multinational corporation is highly valued,
- Exceptional depth of technical complex accounting knowledge and expertise in with US GAAP.
- Understanding of early-stage company challenges with demonstrated track record of building processes and procedures from scratch to support growth trajectories.
- Proficient in the use of and implementation of financial management software and ERP systems.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, and internal control and process improvement experience required.
- Excellent time and project management skills, strong attention to detail; focused but flexible.
