About the position
Reporting to the Vice President, Insights and Analytics, the Specialist, Insights and Analytics will work with team members across departments to understand needs, independently deliver impactful solutions, and extract insights from data. The Insights and Analytics team works to conduct analyses and develop strategies that move initiatives to action, facilitate conversations around moving communities and making progress forward, and build technological solutions that solve access and dissemination hurdles.
Responsibilities and Duties
Making Meaning of Data
- Plan and execute data analysis and research leading to actionable insights for Executive Team, internal departments, external partners, and national audience for more informed decision-making. For typical engagements:
- Develop and present content for internal team members, investors, network partners, national education and adjacent sector leaders to highlight needs, opportunities, and progress toward social outcome goals. Functions include extracting, cleaning, maintaining quality, aggregating, and visualizing data and then documenting processes
- Prepare high-impact materials, PowerPoint presentations, and memos to communicate key findings
- Use analytical tools and create data visualizations to support network and national partners. Conduct analyses to advance strategies on key education priorities using large datasets, both quantitative and qualitative, to extract findings
- Engage in new, complex challenges with team and various stakeholders such as connecting local partnership education data with national education data
- Work extensively in analysis tools, e.g., R, Python, and/or SQL etc. Work in Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and/or GIS software.
Field Learning Support
- Support the Cradle to Career Network in identifying key population variables and data sources to understand local community needs and progress over time
- Provide consultation and strategic assistance to partners on matters of data analytics, building their capability to use data for continuous improvement
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years developing tools and processes to streamline analyses and extracting insights from data
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and R or Python
- High attention to detail and strong project management skills
- Ability to incorporate feedback from a team, share feedback and collaborate to improve work products (individual and team)
- Demonstrated history of meeting deadlines while balancing competing priorities across multiple projects
- Strong data communication, report writing and presentation skills, including the ability to present complex information to a wide variety of audiences
- Applicants must have gone through the PK-12 years in the U.S. education system or have extensive experience working in a school district
- Insatiable desire to transform student achievement across the United States and the belief that education can be an equalizer
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional experiences in public education
- Experience with Power BI
Location and Work Demands
- Ability to effectively use remote work technology, including Slack, Zoom and others.
- This role has the opportunity to be fully remote, or based out of StriveTogether’s downtown Cincinnati headquarters.
- Cincinnati candidates have a hybrid work schedule, which requires coming into the office 3x per week based on the needs of the role and their preferences. The dog-friendly office features paid parking, a rooftop deck, and snacks and beverages.
- Fully remote team members have access to DeskPass for community desk and meeting room options
- Team typically works 45 – 50 hours per week, and that may flex up depending on deliverables
- Up to 15%travel required
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated salary range for this role is $87,000 – $90,000. The salary range accounts for Cincinnati-similar geographic regions and may be adjusted based on geographic market.
