Position: Analytics Engineer, Founding Data Team Member
The Role: We are a fast-growing startup looking for a highly motivated and scrappy individual to be the founding member of our data team. Your primary objectives will be to build our data warehouse, pipelines and infrastructure to bring together necessary data sources and to create the framework and tooling for detailed analysis and reporting. The insights you help us uncover will be instrumental in growing our business and realizing our mission. You must be self-motivated, quick to learn a new product and business model, and able to work well cross-functionally at all levels of the organization. Because you will be building from scratch, startup experience is important, as is the ability to set your own roadmap to deliver value, with the support of the whole team. Your compensation will include equity ownership.
Employment Type:
- Full-time, in person in Sandy, Utah. Relocation assistance will not be provided.
- This role requires that you are legally authorized to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Design and build Mia Share’s data warehouse, leveraging existing datasets and bringing new datasets together
- Build and maintain our dbt instance and all pipelines
- Scope & implement software to allow internal stakeholders to query data, display data and build reports, and answer their own real-time questions with data
- Create robust real-time company reporting capabilities for KPIs in partnership with department leaders and the CEO
- Provide expertise and capacity to both build the above as well as maintain it over time as the business and data needs grow
- Service internal teams in ongoing analysis and reporting needs, working cross functionally to understand business questions and deliver insight and value
- Since you will be the first data hire, set the tone and vision for Data at Mia Share
What you possess
- 3+ years of experience on a data team, startup experience is ideal
- Strong technical skill set, including experience with dbt and ELT tools
- Founder mentality to build the data department from scratch
- Exemplary level of grit and perseverance
- Grit and drive to be self-accountable and highly motivated
- Speed in becoming an expert in a new product, industry, and the associated data
- Energy and enthusiasm for building the business
- Connection to our mission of unlocking human potential in the trade school space
- Experience in an early startup, with a very fast pace
- Ability to be scrappy and resourceful and build in stages, starting with an MVP
