Job Description: Overview: The Director of Information Technology reports to the Vice President of Finance & Administration. In collaboration with the Claremont Colleges network operator, the IT Director is primarily responsible for managing and maintaining the campus network infrastructure to support approximately 1,000 students, staff, and faculty. Other critical areas of responsibility include cybersecurity, disaster recovery, business continuity management, identity and access management, information privacy, and information risk management, aligning with the institution's mission and vision.
Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field is required, along with 5 - 7 years of relevant experience. Experience in progressively responsible management roles within Information Technology and Cyber Security is preferred. Recent IT-related work experience in higher education is also preferred.

Information Security Responsibilities - Continuously assess and implement technologies and best practices to continuously improve the institution's cybersecurity posture.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Information Security Program, including policies, standards, and procedures, to protect against threats.
- Conduct annual security reviews to ensure policies meet current needs.
- Improve proactive threat monitoring and risk management for data security, including network penetration testing and vulnerability scans.
- Coordinate external security audits, assessments, and compliance.
- Oversee campus incident response, security awareness training, and self-assessment processes.
Other Responsibilities - Lead and manage a small team of IT support professionals, providing direction, support, and mentorship. Oversee recruitment efforts, including hiring, onboarding, and training new members to ensure alignment with departmental and institutional goals.
- Provide leadership by planning, implementing, and supervising all aspects of information technology functions of the Institute.
- Responsible for developing, recommending, and implementing guidelines, processes, and procedures for KGI's information technology functions according to the mission, goals, and objectives of the Institute.
- Responsible for computing and information services infrastructure, including network security, data networks, internet connections, E-mail, audiovisual media initiatives, and instructional platforms.
- Monitor and enforce regular maintenance, upgrades, and updates of IT-managed technology resources.
- Oversee the security of systems, networks, and enterprise information.
- Oversee vendor contracts and software licenses to enforce adherence to current agreements.
- Proactively identify inefficiencies in business practices and analyze information technology's costs, value, and risks to advise the VP of Finance & Administration and suggest actions.
- Oversee the planning, budgeting, and purchasing while ensuring that future technology purchases meet all departments' goals and support KGI's mission.
- Participate in strategic planning and implementation of campus-wide initiatives, including facilities planning, academic and student service initiatives, classroom design, and technology-intensive projects.
- Serve as a consultant to KGI's employees in new technology matters.
- Develop and implement business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in emergencies or data loss.
- Analyze IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics and needs.
- Identify solutions and strategies to support special projects and act as the liaison between the campus departments and IT.
- Propose and create solutions for the archival process/storing and managing data.
- Research and evaluate new technology products and recommend technologies that benefit students, faculty, and staff.
- Represent the institution on the Claremont Colleges Information Technology Committee.
- Perform other essential duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by the VP of Finance & Administration.

- Knowledge of implementing information security and cybersecurity strategies, including compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Comprehensive knowledge of data processing methods and procedures, computer software, systems design and development process, including requirements analysis, feasibility studies, software design, programming, pilot testing, installation, evaluation, and operational management.
- Experience and understanding of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and telecommunications.
- Advanced knowledge of physical and virtual server environments and data storage technologies.
- Ability to discuss the Institute's technological status, needs, and plans and interact with other Claremont Colleges IT leadership, including faculty, staff, and students with limited and advanced computing knowledge.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
- Ability to view college-wide concerns from multiple perspectives.
- Demonstrated ability to develop staff-to train, coach, and lead professional IT staff toward professional and personal improvement, which benefits them and the institution as they grow professionally.
- Ability to meet deadlines and set priorities among computing needs.

Hours, Classification, and Status: This is a regular, full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt position.
The regular hours of this position are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Hours may vary due to the needs of the College or department.
Salary range: $120,000 - $150,000 annualized. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

Must be able to drive/travel locally. Occasionally, will be required to stand for prolonged periods at activities/events on and off campus.
