Job Overview:
ExploreLearning is seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer to join a centralized data team, primarily to partner with the product development team to provide insights in user experience and build embeddable LLM-based AI models. As a small team, we seek a well-rounded data professional with excellent technical, communication, and collaboration skills. The successful candidate can both build data models to support our core operations and work cross functionally with key internal stakeholders to address their pain points with end-to-end data solutions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Build and own optimal data pipelines delivering well-defined, tested, documented, and code-reviewed shared data sets to support analysis, reporting, mathematical modeling, and BI tooling
- Proactively identify operational pain points and inefficiencies with cross-functional partners and develop new tools and automated process to solve them
- Partner with key stakeholders across business functions to build dashboards and other BI tools that deliver insights and enable self-service
- Propose and undertake improvements to our dbt infrastructure through refactoring, automated testing, and enhancement of code hygiene.
- Support EdTech researchers studying effectiveness and efficacy of education intervention
- Conduct root cause analysis
- Document models, processes, and nomenclature
Job Requirements:
- Fluency and excellent problem-solving in SQL
- Proven background collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and implementing end-to-end data solutions that help them do their jobs
- Solid command of dbt, with at least 2+ yrs. of daily use building data models
- 2+ yrs. creating dashboards in Tableau.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, especially regarding requirement intake
- Strong stakeholder and project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously
- 2+ yrs. working in a cloud data warehouse (Preferred: snowflake)
- Understanding of data warehouse practices and concepts
- (Major Bonus Points) Substantial experience working with unstructured or semi-structured data (JSON, XML)
- (Major Bonus Points) Working knowledge of python outside ingestion APIs
- (Bonus points) Experience working with Snowflake Cortex or Salesforce Container Services
- (Bonus points) Experience in a role regularly requiring ROI / Impact estimation
- (Bonus points) Ability to analyze data using basic statistical methods, interprets results, and provide written and graphical summaries of data analyses
- (Bonus points) Experience with SSMS
- (Bonus Points) General purpose object-oriented programming skills (Python, C#, Java) outside of ETLs
