Summary

Group Legal Counsel role supporting a global learning technologies company with responsibility for complex commercial legal matters across multiple jurisdictions. This position involves drafting, negotiating, and closing enterprise software agreements while managing diverse legal risk profiles across international group companies.

Key Responsibilities: Draft, negotiate, and close complex commercial agreements including SaaS agreements, software licensing, data protection, content licensing, and partner agreements. Provide legal counsel on cross-border contracting matters with consideration of global privacy laws and enterprise software risks.
Skills & Tools: Expert-level contract drafting and negotiation skills with solid understanding of enterprise software legal frameworks and global privacy laws. Proficiency with AI drafting tools and ability to assess risk profiles across diverse business operations.
Qualifications: Extensive experience in cross-border commercial contracting and enterprise software transactions. Qualified lawyer with demonstrable expertise in software licensing, data protection, and international commercial law.
Location: Remote, United Kingdom (also available for US-based remote candidates)
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is £90,000 – £140,000/year based on title, seniority, and location.

Job Description

We are looking for a Group Legal Counsel to join our team, based remotely in the US or the UK.

Working alongside an international team of in-house lawyers and paralegals, you will work on a range of legal matters for our group companies. This is a challenging but at the same time very interesting role, as the global and diverse nature of our group will require cross border contracting and an understanding of the law in multiple jurisdictions. The salary will be dependent on experience, with a good benefits package.

What you'll be doing everyday

Drafting, negotiating and closing complex (buyer and vendor) commercial agreements, including Software-as-a-Service Agreements, Software Licensing Agreements, Data Protection Agreements, Content Licensing Agreements, Professional Services Agreements and Partner Agreements. The different risk profiles of our various businesses require a good business understanding and solid judgement.

About you

  • Solid expertise and knowledge in the enterprise software space and related legal frameworks and risks
  • A good understanding of global privacy laws is an advantage
  • Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills
  • Experience in cross-border commercial contracting
  • Experience in using AI drafting tools
