Summary
Senior Software Engineer at Magpie Literacy, a nonprofit tackling America's reading crisis through innovative educational technology. Design and build core platform systems that deliver scalable, high-impact learning experiences for students while providing actionable insights for educators.
Key Responsibilities: Design and develop reliable platform capabilities including backend services, frontend interfaces, and data pipelines; collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to create and improve features with metrics-driven decision-making. Own development from design through production monitoring, write clean code, build APIs, mentor engineers, and contribute to architectural decisions.
Skills & Tools: 6–8+ years of full-stack engineering experience with proficiency in React, AWS, event-driven architecture, and system integrations. Strong ability to think deeply about learning systems, balance pragmatism with curiosity, demonstrate user empathy, and thrive in collaborative startup environments.
Qualifications: Proven track record building complex systems for diverse users, driving engineering standards, and setting technical direction; startup experience and hands-on experience with authentication, onboarding, content management platforms, and third-party integrations.
Location: California
Compensation: $145K–$160K/yr
