Summary

Senior Backend Software Engineer at Kiddom, an educational technology platform, responsible for designing and building scalable API integrations and RESTful web services that impact K-12 education.

Key Responsibilities: Design and build scalable frameworks for third-party API integrations, develop RESTful web services, create robust testing environments for developers, and own product features from planning through launch and refactoring.
Skills & Tools: Strong proficiency in REST API design, authorization technologies (OAuth), continuous integration/deployment tools, software design patterns, debugging, and problem-solving; experience with Go, React/Redux, and AWS services preferred.
Qualifications: BS/MS in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years professional software engineering experience, demonstrated expertise designing and building REST APIs, and experience through multiple code lifecycle phases (planning, launching, refactoring).
Location: Remote, San Francisco, or New York, United States
Compensation: $100,000 – $225,000/year

To tackle this challenge, Kiddom is looking for a Backend Engineer who will embody forward-thinking best practices and bring a positive attitude to work with our team and strive for the betterment of our children's education and the future of our society.


You will...

  • Design and build a scalable, generalized framework for third-party API integrations
  • Leverage existing infrastructure and components to build RESTful web services
  • Build APIs and robust testing environments for internal and external developers
  • Bring an attention to detail - what we do affects people’s educational opportunities and we have to be mindful of that
  • Craft delightful user experiences
  • Own the product - we love people who pick up things and run with them


What we look for

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years professional software engineering experience
  • Experience designing and building REST APIs
  • Exposure to authorization technologies (OAuth)
  • Experience with continuous integration and automation tools and processes
  • Strong knowledge of design patterns and software engineering best practices
  • You've been through the planning, launching and refactoring phases of code you wrote
  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment
  • Motivated and responsible individual who strives to exceed expectations
  • Sincere interest in working at a startup and scaling with the company as we grow

Potential range: 100k-225k


Salary range is dependent on geography, past experience, seniority, and demonstrated role related ability during the interview process.

Kiddom policy requires employees to be vaccinated before they visit an office or attend company events..

We have remote roles but in certain positions where office attendance is deemed to be essential to the role, offers of employment shall be conditional upon proof of vaccination.
