Research Scientist I in Hydrogeology at University of Idaho who conducts independent or collaborative research, leading discrete project components while performing complex scientific analyses and publishing peer-reviewed work. Key Responsibilities: Perform complex scientific analyses, adjust experimental designs based on data, develop project solutions, conduct peer reviews, prepare publications, and resolve technical/regulatory issues. May manage project scope, budgets, scheduling, field implementation, staff hiring/training, and document approval.
Skills & Tools: Advanced hydrogeological and scientific research expertise, experimental design and data analysis capabilities, technical writing and presentation skills, and project management proficiency. Strong problem-solving abilities, regulatory knowledge, and interpersonal skills for collaboration and potential team leadership.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in hydrogeology, geology, or related earth science field with postdoctoral or early-career research experience. Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and manage scientific projects.

Compensation: $55K–$75K/yr (estimated)
Job Description
Serves as an independent researcher, or a collaborator on a multi-scholar research initiative. May have lead responsibility for discrete components of a larger project under the general direction of a senior or principal researcher.
Duties may include:
- Perform complex scientific analyses
- Adjust experimental designs as necessary based on experimental data analysis
- Direct the development of recommendations for project solutions
- Perform peer review of scientific projects, studies, or applications and making recommendations
- Prepare peer reviewed publications or presentations
- Resolve complex project specific technical and regulatory issues
- Establish work priorities and performance standards, hiring, training, evaluating staff, assigning, and reviewing work
- May be responsible for technical project management to include developing the scope of work, budgeting, scheduling, reporting, implementing field projects, and approving scientific documents
- Other duties as assigned
