Bilingual Multimedia Technologist
Empire State University, Office of Digital Innovation and Learning, seeks a full-time bilingual Multimedia Technologist at one of our New York state locations.
As a Multimedia Technologist at Empire State University, you will play a crucial role in creating training materials and delivering training to support bilingual faculty and students at SUNY's leading online institution. The ideal candidate will help create bilingual multimedia training materials and deliver training that supports our faculty and students' use of learning environments. You will also help support faculty and student use of the learning management system and other university supported learning tools and apply this experience to training development. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment with a team of Empire Online instructional technologists and instructional designers.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide support for bilingual faculty and students with training and translating support materials and courses.
- Create supporting multimedia materials for distribution in both asynchronous and in-person trainings for the learning management system (LMS), video hosting and other supported tools used in the LMS.
- Create and maintain knowledgebase articles including screenshots and instructional videos.
- Provide first-level support and assistance to faculty via phone, email, live chat, and our ticketing system for the use of the learning management system, video platform and other supported university learning tools.
- Assist with other Empire Online multimedia projects.
- Liaison with other offices at the university to enhance overall student and faculty training.
- Deliver excellent customer service, ensuring a positive experience for all users.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- A minimum of two years of relevant training and support experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with one or more learning management systems (Brightspace experience preferred).
- Experience with video hosting platforms for training material distribution (Kaltura preferred).
- Experience with Adobe Suite or equivalent tools for editing screenshots and videos.
- Working knowledge of HTML for basic editing of articles or LMS pages using current HTML standards.
- Working knowledge of accessibility compliance for online learning environments (WCAG 2.1).
- Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in higher education settings.
- Experience providing bilingual support and training in educational settings.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to empathize with concerned customers.
- Experience working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Working knowledge of User Experience Testing (UX) or similar design processes.
- Working knowledge of:
- Web browser functionality (Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari).
- Mobile device: iOS and/or Android.
- Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Office.
- Virtual environment including Microsoft Teams.
- Prior experience working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse linguistic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Prior knowledge of and experience in working with bilingual and emergent bilingual learners, particularly in online settings.
Special Information:
- Occasional travel may be required to fulfill university-wide commitments.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.
- The successful candidate must complete and pass an online Spanish language proficiency test prior to an official offer of employment.

Rank/Salary: Instructional Support Associate, SL2 / $49,500-$52,000, dependent upon experience and qualifications.
