Position Overview
The Vice President of Strategy & M&A will sit within Corporate Development, reporting to our Chief Business Advancement Officer, and will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s long-term strategic vision. This leadership role focuses on identifying growth opportunities, ensuring alignment between corporate objectives and market trends, and assessing capital allocation towards organic and inorganic efforts.
This individual will conduct market analysis, competitive positioning, analytical diligence, trend identification, and oversee M&A efforts. The VP of Strategy & M&A works closely with executive leadership to drive innovation, enhance competitive positioning, and ensure the company remains agile in a dynamic business environment. Success in this role requires a combination of analytical and qualitative research, a bias for action, and adaptability in ambiguous situations.
What You'll Do
- Strategic Planning & Market Analysis
- Develop and maintain a three-year business strategy, ensuring alignment with annual operating plans and budgets.
- Conduct market research to assess industry trends, market size, customer needs, and growth opportunities.
- Identify key competitors and evaluate their market positioning, pricing, and differentiators.
- Drive strategic decision-making by leveraging data-driven frameworks and methodologies.
- Oversee capital allocation decisions to support long-term growth initiatives.
Strategy Implementation & Execution
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and track progress on strategic objectives.
- Develop financial models and forecasting to support strategic initiatives.
- Create detailed roadmaps for executing high-impact business strategies.
- Ensure cross-functional collaboration to align daily operations with strategic goals.
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)
- Identify new business opportunities including partnerships, acquisitions, and expansion initiatives.
- Oversee due diligence efforts, financial modeling, and risk assessments.
- Present M&A strategies and business cases to senior leadership and the board.
- Negotiate deal terms to align with corporate objectives.
- Manage post-merger integration to ensure seamless operational transition and value realization.
Leadership & Culture
- Mentor and develop junior team members through regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviews.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture, emphasizing accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to drive alignment and execution.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, or a senior leadership role.
- Proven expertise in market analysis, business modeling, and strategic planning.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence executive stakeholders.
- Experience managing M&A transactions, from due diligence to post-merger integration.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple high-impact initiatives.
