Summary

Join Savvas as a Software Developer Intern to work on innovative projects that enhance digital learning experiences for students and teachers while collaborating with experienced professionals in a dynamic engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities: Participate in development meetings, discuss project design and code with developers, implement project features, and conduct testing on various use cases to improve digital learning products.
Skills & Tools: Proficiency in programming languages, strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent time management and organizational abilities, and capability to work collaboratively on teams while remaining open to constructive feedback.
Qualifications: Current undergraduate student enrolled in Computer Science or related field with graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027, able to commit to full-time (40 hours/week) for ten weeks during summer, and must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Location: Hybrid in Chandler, Arizona, United States (minimum two days per week onsite; Boston, MA also available)
Compensation: $18 – $30/hour

Interns have the opportunity to meet with experienced professionals across a variety of software disciplines and be a part of a world-class engineering team that builds and supports learning products used by millions of people every day. Savvas software development interns work on special projects that improve the digital learning experience for students and teachers. 

Past interns have worked on projects that included:

  • Integrating an adaptive learning engine into our platform 
  • Improving our content authoring tools 
  • Improving the accessibility of Realize for students with disabilities
  • Porting an application from Chromebooks to Windows 
  • Creating an AR application as a companion to Savvas textbooks 
  • Creating security monitoring dashboards 
  • Developing automated tests for our learning management service 

On a typical day, the Intern will:

  • Participate in a planning meeting with a development team
  • Meet with developers to discuss the design and code for the project 
  • Work on the project implementation 
  • Test various use cases

What We Are Looking For:

  • You are a current undergraduate student at an accredited college or university, with a graduation date between December 2026 - June 2027, studying Computer Science or a related field
  • You can commit to a full-time role (40 hours per week) for ten weeks out of the summer
  • You’re enthusiastic about working in a hybrid environment, onsite a minimum of two days per week in Chandler, AZ, or Boston, MA
  • You want to build great software for students and teachers
  • You’re passionate about programming and curious about new technologies, with some demonstrated accomplishments outside the classroom 
  • You’re a great communicator, verbally and in writing
  • You’re organized and manage time well  
  • You can multitask and set priorities, and you complete assigned tasks on schedule with the required level of quality 
  • You’re open to using constructive feedback to refine your skills, and you’re open to working collaboratively on and with a team
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; our internship opportunities are not eligible for sponsorship
