Parallel is seeking a full-time payroll and benefits specialist. In this role, you’ll be supporting the Finance and People Teams by driving operational aspects such as payroll and benefits administration, compliance support, and managing the HR inbox.

What you’ll do:
- Own benefits administration: manage Employee Navigator, audit monthly statements, align our benefits platform with our HRIS data, own system integrations, and support the VP of People with Open Enrollment
- Act as payroll administrator: run talent and staff payrolls, own payroll submissions, manage employment tax applications, update time off accruals, send payroll reports to our 401k vendor, and support the accounting team with payroll reconciliation and variance investigation
- Payroll tax compliance and liability management: Stay on top of payroll tax liabilities and filings at the federal, state, and local levels; ensure payroll taxes are paid timely and filings are submitted accurately to avoid notices, penalties, or delinquency issues; proactively address and resolve any tax notices or discrepancies with agencies and payroll providers
- Audit HSA withdrawals to ensure they match contributions
- Track and pay all state taxes that are not auto-paid by our HRIS
- Partner with our benefits broker and VP of People to resolve discrepancies and support issues
- Equity administration support
- Be the first point of contact for employees in need of payroll and benefits support, answer Zendesk tickets on those subjects and escalate questions appropriately, resolve issues in a friendly and timely manner
- Manage special projects: use your excel skills to build out ad hoc projects encompassing benefits, annual audits, employment taxes, and PTO
What you need:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in experience, preferably in accounting or HR Strong Excel skills
- 2 years of payroll and benefits experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Proactive about seeking answers and pitching solutions
- Ability to self-direct and prioritize tasks on a daily basis
- Comfortable dialoging with employees and vendors via email and phone
- Excited to work in a startup environment
- Experience with Rippling would be an asset
