Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education or related field required; Master’s degree and teaching credential preferred, along with 3-5 years of relevant teaching experience.

We are seeking experienced educators to review and provide feedback on ELD lessons for Grades 6-8. Reviewers will evaluate lessons for alignment to California ELD standards, pedagogical effectiveness, cultural responsiveness, and usability for teachers working with emergent bilingual students.
What you'll do...
- Lesson Review and Feedback
- Review draft ELD lessons for Grades 6-8 to ensure alignment with California ELD standards
- Evaluate lessons for pedagogical soundness, including appropriate scaffolding, differentiation, and language development strategies
- Assess the integration and alignment of ELD lessons with EL Education's Grades 6-8 Module lessons
- Provide constructive, specific feedback on lesson content, activities, assessments, and teacher guidance
- Evaluate lessons for cultural and linguistic responsiveness
- Standards Alignment
- Verify that lessons appropriately address California ELD standards across all proficiency levels (Emerging, Expanding, Bridging)
- Ensure lessons include opportunities for students to develop skills across all three parts of the CA ELD Standards (Part I: Interacting in Meaningful Ways, Part II: Learning About How English Works, Part III: Using Foundational Literacy Skills)
- Confirm that language objectives are clear, measurable, and appropriately aligned to standards
- Instructional Quality
- Assess the quality and appropriateness of instructional strategies, materials, and activities
- Evaluate the effectiveness of scaffolds and supports for students at varying proficiency levels
- Review the balance of oral and written language development opportunities
- Assess opportunities for student discourse, collaboration, and authentic language use
- Evaluate the integration of academic vocabulary development and language routines
- Usability and Implementation
- Assess the clarity and completeness of teacher guidance and lesson plans
- Evaluate the feasibility of lesson implementation within typical class periods
- Review materials lists, timing allocations, and lesson structures for practicality
- Provide feedback on the accessibility and organization of lesson materials
What we're looking for...
- Education and Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Valid California teaching credential, preferred
- CLAD, BCLAD, or English Learner Authorization
- Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of classroom teaching experience in Grades 6-8 ELA
- Demonstrated experience teaching English Language Development or working with emergent bilingual students
- Proven knowledge of California ELD standards and their application in the classroom
- Experience with curriculum review, instructional coaching, or educational materials development (preferred)
- Knowledge and Skills
- Deep understanding of California ELD standards and framework
- Knowledge of second language acquisition theory and best practices for ELD instruction
- Familiarity with EL Education curriculum and instructional approach (preferred)
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written communication skills
- Ability to provide constructive, actionable feedback
- Proficiency with digital collaboration tools (Google Suite, Microsoft Office, project management platforms)
