Job Description
AI & Automation Lead
Full-Time • Remote • India Preferred
About MarcoPolo Learning
Founded in 2013, MarcoPolo Learning is an award‑winning educational technology company dedicated to advancing early childhood education through innovative, research‑driven solutions and best‑in‑class support. Our products are used in thousands of public and private schools across North America. MarcoPolo Learning is headquartered in New York City, with support offices in Tampa, Houston, and London (UK)
We are a lean, mission-driven team rebuilding the business around AI-first operations and scalable automated experiences. This hire is central to that transformation.
The Role
We are looking for a hands-on builder to lead MarcoPolo's transition to an automated, AI-powered company. You will own the design and implementation of AI and automation systems across the business, from customer onboarding and reporting to content generation and marketing execution.
You will report directly to the CEO. Your job is to build systems that reduce the need for large teams. This is a high-ownership, high-autonomy role for someone who moves fast and ships things.
What You Will Own
- Automated customer reporting: Replace manual CSV workflows with live usage dashboards and automated data delivery to partner success teams and customers
- AI-powered onboarding & free trial: Build a fully automated sign-up-to-activation-to-conversion experience using our Audrey AI agent — no human required for smaller customers
- Marketing automation: Design and run automated social media and campaign pipelines so brand activity continues without dedicated headcount
- Content generation: Use AI to produce printables, educator guides, and supplemental materials at scale from our existing video and curriculum library
- Agentic operational workflows: Sales tracking, task follow-up, renewal alerts, and internal reporting — identify, prioritize, and automate
- Data pipeline coordination: Work with the engineering team to ensure the right data is available to power the automations you build
- AI tooling evaluation: Stay current on the AI landscape and recommend when and how new tools should be adopted
What You Bring
Required
- 3–8 years of experience in software development, product, or technical operations
- At least 2 years working directly with LLMs and AI tools at an integration level — not just as an end user
- Proven experience building AI agents or multi-step agentic workflows (LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen, or equivalent)
- Hands-on proficiency with at least one automation platform: n8n, Make (Integromat), or Zapier at a workflow-design level
- Experience working with APIs, webhooks, and lightweight data pipelines independently
- Strong business judgment — you can identify which automations are worth building and scope them clearly
- A portfolio or examples of AI systems you have actually shipped
Preferred
- Experience with HubSpot or similar CRM automation
- Background in SaaS, EdTech, or subscription-based businesses
- Experience in a small team or early-stage startup environment
- Familiarity with product analytics tools (Mixpanel, Metabase, HubSpot, Looker, or similar)
Who Thrives Here
- You prefer shipping over strategizing. You are not satisfied with a roadmap until something is live.
- You work well without heavy direction. You scope your own work and deliver against it.
- You see a manual process and immediately think about how to automate it — and you follow through.
- You are excited about the potential for AI to make a small company operate like a much larger one.
- You respect the mission: making early childhood education better for teachers, schools, and families.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: Competitive as per local market standards, depending on experience)
- Equity/stock options
Work Environment
- Fully remote with flexibility to structure your own working day
- Supportive, mission-driven culture that values outcomes over hours
- Small team — your work is visible, your impact is real
- Collaborative environment that celebrates milestones and builds together
- Access to ongoing learning opportunities as the AI landscape evolves.
