Role Snapshot

The Data Use Agreement Manager at Stony Brook University oversees the complete lifecycle management of data sharing agreements, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, privacy laws, and institutional policies. This role is critical for facilitating secure and compliant data exchanges with external parties across research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities: Manage end-to-end data sharing agreements including review, negotiation, execution, and closeout; conduct risk assessments for regulatory, privacy, and security compliance; and collaborate with principal investigators, legal counsel, IT security, and other stakeholders to ensure data use aligns with institutional policy.
Skills & Tools: Strong contract management and negotiation abilities with in-depth knowledge of HIPAA, GDPR, and institutional regulations; excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain complex legal concepts; strong organizational skills with meticulous record-keeping and ability to work effectively in team-oriented, fast-paced environments.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Health Science, or related field with 4 years of full-time contract management experience; experience drafting, analyzing, and negotiating contracts with demonstrated knowledge of data privacy regulations and work in hospital or higher education settings. Preferred: Master's degree or Juris Doctor, relevant professional certifications (CIPP), and proficiency with contract lifecycle management software.
Location: Stony Brook, New York
Compensation: $120K–$145K/yr
