In this sales-focused product specialist role, you will leverage your expertise to demonstrate the benefits of MathWorks tools for digital communication systems engineering. You’ll work with customers developing cutting-edge wireless technologies, including cellular and satellite communications. Success in this role depends on your ability to build trusted relationships, communicate effectively, and continuously improve.
This position is based in Santa Clara, CA. Expect to travel 20-30% of the time, mostly on the US West Coast.

Responsibilities
The wireless communications specialist AE will use his/her technical knowledge and presentation skills to drive customer success and business return on investment for both MathWorks and our customers. Customer success activities include:
- Customer Engagement: Work directly with customers in Semiconductors, Electronics, Communications, Aerospace, and Defense industries to improve development processes using MathWorks wireless solutions.
- Technical Demonstrations: Develop proof-of-concept models and workflows using MATLAB, Simulink, and toolboxes such as 5G Toolbox, Satellite Communications Toolbox, and WLAN Toolbox, and demonstrate these to customers.
- System Modeling: Help customers design and simulate digital communication algorithms (e.g., channel estimation, equalization), RF propagation environments, and integrate AI techniques where appropriate.
- Thought Leadership: Deliver seminars, present at trade shows, and publish articles showcasing MathWorks wireless solutions.
- Product Collaboration: Provide feedback to development teams to enhance our wireless product offerings.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree and 10 years of professional work experience (or equivalent experience) is required.
Additional Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
- High motivation for customer-facing work
- 5+ years of experience in digital baseband communications (modem design, LTE, 5G, SatCom, MilCom, etc.)
- Knowledge of commercial modem design and implementation workflows (from simulation to hardware implementation)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Pluses:
- MATLAB and/or Simulink experience
- Experience in a relevant technical industry (e.g. Communication/Electronics, Semiconductors)
- Experience in a customer facing role (Marketing, Application Engineering, Training, Tech Support, Sales)
- Knowledge of RF systems, antenna and array design, and satellite communications
