Qualifications: Master's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Earth Science, Life Sciences, Science Education, or closely related field; minimum 3 years of college-level science teaching experience with demonstrated ability to design and facilitate meaningful online lab experiences.
Location: Remote - Campus Remote
Compensation: $8,000 per 4-credit course/11-week quarter

About the Role

Campus is seeking experienced, mission-driven, student-centered science instructors to deliver high-impact online courses as part of our General Education program. This role is ideal for educators who are passionate about student success, thrive in virtual environments, and believe that any student can learn to think like a scientist with the right support

You'll join a growing network of faculty dedicated to creating meaningful learning experiences for students from all backgrounds, particularly those historically underserved by higher education. Our science sequence Environmental Science and General Biology is designed to develop scientific reasoning, empirical inquiry, and evidence evaluation as transferable intellectual skills that students will carry into their professional and civic lives.

What You’ll Teach

  • Environmental Science with Integrated Lab (4 quarter credits)

  • General Biology with Integrated Lab (4 quarter credits)

Academic Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Teach 11-week live, online courses using engaging, student-centered instructional strategies.

  • Teach synchronous online courses using engaging, student-centered instructional strategies

  • Design and facilitate inquiry-driven, accessible lab experiences in a fully online format using digital tools

  • Foster an inclusive, supportive environment that promotes active learning and student participation.

  • Teach scientific reasoning, evidence evaluation, and empirical thinking as transferable intellectual skills

  • Make real-world connections consistently so students leave class understanding why what they learned matters

  • Stay current on science pedagogy trends, online lab tools, and approaches for teaching nontraditional learners

  • Provide timely, constructive feedback and respond to student inquiries within 24 hours.

  • Host weekly office hours to deepen student understanding and build community.

  • Work with Teaching Assistants to co-manage the course, including mentoring the TA on effective grading and student engagement practices.

  • Evaluate student progress, maintain grade records, and submit mid quarter and end of quarter evaluations.

  • Collaborate with peers and Campus staff to share best practices and continuously improve instruction.

  • Contribute to co-curricular programming (e.g., speaker series, networking events) to enrich the student experience.

  • Stay current on industry and pedagogy trends relevant to your subject area and online teaching.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Earth Science, Life Sciences, Science Education, or a closely related field

  • At least 3 years of college-level science teaching experience

  • Demonstrated ability to design and facilitate meaningful lab experiences in a fully online format

  • Strong content knowledge in environmental science and/or biology at the introductory college level

  • Experience teaching scientific reasoning and evidence evaluation as transferable intellectual skills

  • Comfort teaching students with varying levels of scientific preparation and confidence

  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain the same concept multiple ways until it lands

  • Proactive, reliable, and committed to high-quality online education

  • Passion for equity, access, and supporting students from diverse backgrounds

  • Available to commit 8–10 hours per week per course, with some flexibility for training

Compensation

  • $8,000 per 4-credit course/11 week quarter
