Role Snapshot
The Deputy Chief Philanthropy Officer is the second most senior position in the Exploratorium's Institutional Advancement Department, responsible for developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies while leading development teams to strengthen philanthropic support for the museum.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement fundraising strategies for annual, major, and planned giving; lead and mentor development professionals; identify and engage with major donors and prospects; oversee planned giving programs including marketing, prospecting, and stewardship.
Skills & Tools: Proven fundraising strategy expertise, team leadership and staff mentorship, donor engagement and relationship management, strong communication and analytical abilities, proficiency with CRM systems, and knowledge of legal and tax implications of charitable giving.
Qualifications: Undergraduate degree with 7-10 years of progressive fundraising experience, including management experience in nonprofit or cultural organizations, and familiarity with charitable giving regulations.
Location: San Francisco, California
Compensation: $190K–$197K/yr
