Summer Math Instructor position teaching advanced elementary math curriculum to small classes at AoPS Academy. Lead engaging, student-centered lessons during two-week summer camps (June-August) in Irvine.

Key Responsibilities: Teach pre-designed advanced math curriculum to up to 16 students, actively engage students in collaborative learning, manage classroom dynamics, grade assignments with feedback, and build relationships with students and families.
Skills & Tools: Strong content knowledge in mathematics, excellent classroom management and communication abilities, passion for inspiring critical thinking and love of learning in young students.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; Bachelor's degree in STEM or education strongly preferred. Teaching or tutoring experience required; K-12 classroom teaching experience preferred. Formal teaching credential not required.
Location: In-Person - Irvine, CA
Compensation: $36/hr

What You'll Do:

  • Teach Engaging Curriculum: Use company-created curriculum and materials designed for advanced students to lead small classes in Math.
  • Engage Students: Actively involve students in each class or student-led learning.
  • Classroom Management: Expertly manage up to 16 students.
  • Grade & Provide Feedback: Provide feedback on assignments.
  • Build Relationships: Connect with students and families to make a lasting impact on their educational journey.
  • Inspire Learning: Encourage a love for learning and critical thinking in Math.

Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related or educational field is strongly preferred.
  • Strong content knowledge in Math.
  • Experience teaching or tutoring students.
  • Classroom teaching experience at the K-12 level is preferred.

Not Required:

A formal teaching credential is not required for this position.

Schedule:

  • During the summer, we offer multiple two-week camps between June - August.
  • Camp classes are held Monday-Friday for 3 hours a day, with both morning and afternoon classes.

Camps Available:

  • June 15-26, 1-4 pm;
  • July 6-17, 12:45 - 3:45 pm

Campus Location:

  • This is an in-person position at our Irvine location.
  • Candidates must be located in Irvine or the greater area and must be able to commute to our campus.
