Session Lead for Udacity's Integrated Application Security Services Nanodegree program, responsible for delivering world-class technical instruction and mentorship to online learners in cybersecurity. The role combines weekly virtual instruction with asynchronous support to guide students through their nanodegree journey.

Key Responsibilities: Conduct weekly virtual sessions including group work, activities, and lectures; respond to student technical questions throughout the week; monitor student progress and provide check-ins to ensure course completion. Mentor students on OWASP vulnerabilities, secure coding practices, penetration testing, and security system design.
Skills & Tools: Deep expertise in application security, SAST tools, penetration testing, secure system design, authentication/authorization mechanisms, and security breach monitoring. Strong ability to communicate complex security concepts clearly, excellent written and verbal communication in English, public speaking experience, and strong interpersonal skills with a student-first mindset.
Qualifications: Minimum 2+ years of professional experience in application security and related skillsets; graduate degree preferred (Cybersecurity Nanodegree is a plus). Experience teaching technical concepts, a proven tech network, and demonstrated ability to lead and inspire groups of learners.
Location: Remote
Compensation: $55–$85/hr (estimated)

Position Overview:
Session Leads are industry professionals who provide world-class technical support to our learners in their Nanodegree journey. All our session leads are handpicked through a rigorous selection process so that we can truly be #studentfirst.

As a Session Lead/Instructor, you will be meeting virtually on a weekly basis with your students for group work, activities and short lectures. During the week, students are expected to study an estimated 10 hours on their Nanodegree programs on their own, and you will be expected to respond to their technical questions and check-in with them to make sure they are making progress.

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Fluency in English both written and spoken
  • 2+ years of working experience related to the below skillsets.
  • Proficiency in the OWASP vulnerabilities, secure coding practices, and experience with Static Application Security Testing (SAST) tools.
  • Ability to conduct penetration tests, identify system vulnerabilities, and implement remediation strategies, aligning with current industry demands.
  • Experience in designing secure systems, implementing authentication and authorization mechanisms, and developing tools to monitor and counteract security breaches.
  • Capability to convey complex security concepts clearly, write effective security reports.
  • Graduate from Cybersecurity Nanodegree Program is an added plus
  • Experience teaching technical concepts and public speaking
  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence to lead a group of students
  • Students-oriented mindset and focus on understanding their problems
  • Innovative approach and proactivity with students that need help
  • Positive character, trusted by the students, creating emotional ties in the group
  • Existing tech network and experience in technical conversations & discussions
  • Flexibility at their current job to take this challenge as a part-time, external contractor

Responsibilities:

  • Managing weekly Connect sessions with students according to Udacity guidelines
  • Creating the Udacity Connect session agenda & notes
  • Coordinating between the students and the Udacity Connect team
  • Reporting to Udacity the weekly overall attendance status of students & observations about each session
  • Being present at every Connect session over Zoom, helping students introduce themselves, organizing students in groups and keeping track of time
  • Explaining concepts of the Nanodegree program to your group of students when needed
  • Solving questions raised by students during the Connect session
  • Reporting student's attendance and progress to the Mentor's dashboard
  • Communicating with students on Slack
  • Weekly check-in with all students on their progress
