We have an opening for a Senior Structural Engineer.This role can be based in the following cities:

Location: Los Angeles, CA, Riverside, CA, Sacramento, CA, San Diego, CA

Position Summary:

As a Senior Structural Engineer focused on elevating our work within the Healthcare sector, you will have the opportunity to work on projects that push the envelope of resilient design while collaborating with the sector team to achieve our business plan goals.  You will lead a team of junior staff to produce high-quality construction documents using Revit and manage project schedules to meet deliverable requirements. As part of the integrated design team, you will collaborate closely with other disciplines to produce highly integrated building designs. This role will work directly with the regional discipline leader to assist in developing work plans, project schedules, budgets, and proposals for both internal teams and external clients. You will collaborate with the Healthcare sector leadership team to develop and execute strategies for business development, growing our integrated practice.

The successful candidate will:

  • Partner with the Healthcare Regional Sector Leader and Regional Structural Engineering Leader to set strategic directions for growth and actively participate in business plan strategies and initiatives for the California Healthcare sector.
  • Track project milestones and deliverables, ensuring adherence to quality standards
  • Facilitate and document meetings with staff and clients, coordinating project personnel, vendors, and consultants
  • Actively engage in business development initiatives by contributing to RFP responses, participating in client interviews and fostering client relationships
  • Lead the design on projects of significance
  • Collaborate early and often with architects, other engineers, and clients as part of our integrated design process and culture, resulting in growth of revenue and scale of practice
  • Carry out technical review of interdisciplinary teams prior to issuance
  • Represent DLR Group at meetings with owners, clients, and suppliers
  • Produce construction documents using Revit.
  • Assist contractors by reviewing shop drawings, RFIs and participating in O/A/C meetings.
  • Pass along knowledge by mentoring entry-level staff.
  • Contribute to managing the operations, execution, and expectations for the Structural Engineering Discipline in California.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) required in the state of California.
  • 7+ years of experience working as an engineer, including engineering design according to HCAI/OSHPD standards within the Healthcare sector in California
  • Working knowledge of the design and construction process and the ability to understand and communicate with professionals of other disciplines
  • Strong critical thinking, time management, and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Understanding of business management and customer service principles, thought leadership and relationship building
  • Demonstrated record of consistent quality work
  • Working knowledge of current structural software (ETABS, SAP, SAFE, RAM, ADAPT, RISA, Enercalc).
  • Experience with BIM including Autodesk Revit workflow.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Passion for sustainable building design and SE2050 commitment.
  • Experience with directing and coordinating project activities of junior staff.
