About the Role: Wiley’s prestigious social science and humanities (SSH) portfolio is looking for a dynamic and ambitious individual to join the team in the role of Editor-in-Chief, Education. You will use your background in educational research, your knowledge of the publishing landscape, and your strong communication and global networking skills to drive the strategic development of one or more journals, raising the profile and visibility of those journal(s) in the community, and attracting new authors and content. The Editor-in-Chief will also be involved in the peer review process and decision-making of submitted manuscripts and ensuring adoption of best practices and highest ethical standards in publishing. How you will make an impact Leverage your international networks and knowledge of educational research, with desk research skills, to drive high-quality submissions in key subject areas to the Education portfolio. Strategically develop one or more journals, from scientific and publishing perspectives within the context of the broader Education portfolio. Establish and maintain a strong global network of researchers and practitioners who are the journals’ authors, peer reviewers and board members. Represent Wiley and the Education portfolio at conferences and through in-person and virtual outreach activities at universities and research institutes. Oversee the editorial evaluation, peer review, and decision making for submitted manuscripts. Collaborate with your manager and colleagues to establish a team culture of trust, respect and high performance. What we look for: A PhD degree in educational research, with an excellent research background and a strong understanding of recent trends and developments in a variety of educational contexts. Manuscript handling experience (including pre-screening, peer review, final decision, appeals and integrity cases). Demonstrated commissioning experience including identifying priority topics, approaching prospective authors, agreeing outlines/timelines, and guiding authors through to submission. Strong global networks within research communities. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work in a collaborative setting and achieve results through personal influence and engagement. Flexible and innovative approach to problems and a focus on defining and achieving outcomes. Outstanding organizational and time management skills with an excellent command of the English language (both written and verbal). A strong understanding of scientific publishing, and desire to advocate for innovations in publishing and open research. Confidence to present and represent the Education portfolio at international conferences/ institute visits, nurture existing contacts and develop new networks We power infinite possibilities. The range below represents Wiley's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the United Kingdom, Canada or USA. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range, however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.
