Job Description:
Tutor Me Education is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience running payroll using ADP, with a strong proficiency in Google Sheets and Excel. The Payroll Specialist will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for our employees in both the United States and California. This position requires an individual with a high level of attention to detail and a thorough understanding of payroll laws and regulations in California and across the United States.
Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for employees in multiple locations, ensuring all calculations are accurate, compliant, and timely.
- Utilize ADP payroll software to input and manage payroll data, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, overtime, and deductions.
- Maintain accurate employee records, ensuring all payroll-related data is current and up-to-date.
- Review and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, including tax withholdings, benefits deductions, and wage garnishments.
- Prepare and file payroll taxes and related filings, including federal, state, and local tax payments, and year-end forms.
- Generate detailed payroll reports, track hours, overtime, and PTO usage, and resolve discrepancies or issues related to employee pay.
- Assist with audits and ensure accurate documentation for internal and external audits.
- Provide support to employees regarding payroll questions, deductions, and issues.
- Monitor changes in payroll regulations and best practices, ensuring the company remains compliant with all applicable laws.
- Collaborate with the HR and finance departments to ensure smooth integration of payroll and benefits.
Qualifications
- Experience in handling payroll through ADP payroll provider is preferred
- At least 3 years of payroll experience, with expertise in running payroll using ADP.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll processing in both the U.S. and California, including understanding of federal and state tax regulations.
- Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets and Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data manipulation.
- Strong attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy in all payroll-related tasks.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to respond professionally to employee inquiries and resolve issues effectively.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and systems as needed.
- A strong team player who is willing to collaborate with others to solve problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of accounting principles and experience with general ledger accounting.
- Certification in Payroll (CPP) or related credentials is a plus.
