Research Scientist in the Department of Pathology leading tumor cell biology research within the Conditional Reprogramming Laboratory at Ohio State University's College of Medicine. The role focuses on developing a nationally competitive research program with significant emphasis on securing extramural funding and publishing peer-reviewed research.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute advanced research experiments, write and submit grant proposals as co-investigator, conduct statistical analysis and data interpretation, and prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication. Supervise and train junior research staff, postdoctoral researchers, and students while ensuring compliance with laboratory safety and regulatory protocols.
Skills & Tools: Advanced expertise in tumor cell biology, oncogenic viruses research, and experimental design with strong grant writing and manuscript preparation abilities. Leadership and mentoring skills, proficiency in statistical analysis, and knowledge of IRB/ILACUC protocol development.
Qualifications: PhD, MD, or equivalent degree with at least five years of postdoctoral training. Demonstrated potential to lead independent research projects and develop externally funded research proposals as co-PI or co-Investigator.

Compensation: $85K–$140K/yr (estimated)

Job Title: Research Scientist - Pathology

Department: Medicine | Pathology Position Summary Research Scientist to participate in the development and implementation of a nationally competitive program on tumor cell biology within Conditional Reprogramming Laboratory in the Department of Pathology and OSU CCC

  • writes and submits grant proposals of original research in the area of tumor cell biology and oncogenic viruses as co-investigator or collaborator to obtain funding in support of research with significant salary support from extramural funding sponsors
  • develops and tests hypotheses
  • plans, designs and executes advanced research experiments
  • conducts statistical analysis, evaluation and interpretation of raw data
  • plans and writes manuscripts, articles, abstracts and research reports for publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • develops and implements new research techniques and methodologies in the laboratory
  • writes IRB and ILACUC protocols as needed for research
  • ensures and is accountable for compliance to federal and institutional laboratory and radiation safety regulations
  • supervises and trains junior research staff, post doctoral researchers, residents, and undergraduate & graduate students
  • develops new and on-going collaborative research opportunities. Job Requirements PhD, MD, or equivalent and at least five years of postdoctoral training. The ideal candidate should have the potential to become a team leader, lead and conduct independent research projects, and contribute to the development of externally funded research proposals as a co-PI or co-Investigator.
