Summary

Lead multiple full-stack development teams building core components of Curriculum Associates' enterprise content management platform for their award-winning education technology solutions. This hands-on leadership role combines people management with technical direction to drive impact for educators and students.

Key Responsibilities: Lead and grow high-performing full-stack engineering teams, provide technical direction while ensuring software quality and reliability, collaborate with Product, Design, and QA to shape roadmaps, and mentor engineers in career development and technical skills. Champion best practices in modern web development, guide architectural decisions, and help recruit and retain top talent.
Skills & Tools: Strong expertise in modern full-stack JavaScript/TypeScript development, particularly React, GraphQL, and Node.js, combined with excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Experience with agile methodologies, enterprise-grade application development, and fostering inclusive engineering cultures.
Qualifications: 7+ years of professional software development experience with at least 2 years directly managing engineers, and a proven track record of leading and scaling teams on high-impact software projects in fast-paced environments. Passion for education and mission-driven work is a strong plus.

We’re looking for an experienced and people-focused Manager, Software Engineering to lead multiple full-stack development teams building core components of our enterprise content management platform. You’ll play a pivotal role in driving the technical roadmap, fostering a strong engineering culture, and mentoring talented developers working with TypeScript, React, GraphQL, and Node.js.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of people, process, and product.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow high-performing teams of full-stack engineers building scalable web applications and services.
  • Provide technical direction while ensuring software quality, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, and other Engineering leaders to shape roadmaps and deliver value to educators and students.
  • Coach and mentor engineers in their career development, technical skills, and collaboration practices.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion, continuous improvement, ownership, and accountability.
  • Champion best practices in modern web development, including testing, CI/CD, observability, and secure coding.
  • Guide architectural decisions and help break down complex problems into actionable plans.
  • Help recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional experience in software development, with at least 2 years directly managing engineers.
  • Strong knowledge of modern full-stack JavaScript/TypeScript development—especially React, GraphQL, and Node.js.
  • Proven ability to lead and scale teams working on enterprise-grade applications.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and tools.
  • A track record of delivering high-impact software in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for education and mission-driven work is a strong plus.

Benefits and Pay Range:

Pay Range – This role’s range is $110,500. - $196,500. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that Curriculum Associates considers in making compensation decisions based on our Compensation Philosophy. Actual base pay within that range will vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, prior experience and relevant skill sets. At Curriculum Associates, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances for each case. This role is also eligible to participate in the company bonus plan. The Company recognizes that minimum wage varies by location and will ensure all compensation decisions comply with applicable state and local laws.
