Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) serves several key duties as set from the Faculty Code of University Government:

1) OUR serves as the keeper of the academic records of all students registered in the University and issues official transcripts and reports of such records; 2) conducts the registration of all students in the University; 3) prepares and publishes the class and examination schedules; and 4) administers the faculty regulations relating to the removal of academic deficiencies incurred in this University and to compliance with probation and readmission requirements.

To fulfill these duties the office has following core service areas for and on behalf of the university community, including students, alumni, administration, faculty, staff, and other constituents.

Position Summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a Curriculum Specialist to join the Office of the University Registrar. This full-time temporary role, with a hybrid work schedule, is responsible for overseeing the configuration and maintenance of the University’s curriculum within ConnectCarolina (PeopleSoft Campus Solutions), CourseLeaf, the course catalog system, and Simple Syllabus, the university’s public syllabus repository.

Serving as the primary liaison for curriculum-related matters, the Curriculum Specialist works closely with campus partners to manage course proposals, academic program revisions, academic plan updates, and syllabus submission support. The position ensures accurate system configuration, thorough documentation, and consistent communication regarding curriculum changes, deadlines, and procedures.

Key responsibilities include maintaining course and academic plan data, developing controls that ensure the integrity of curricular systems, and delivering outstanding customer service to faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders. The Curriculum Specialist also supports various administrative processes, including managing Formstack submissions related to role updates and workflow adjustments, while promoting and communicating university policies and procedures.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Management Preferences

  • Experience working with the public in a university setting
  • Experience updating student records in a Student Information System within a higher education setting
  • Previous PeopleSoft experience
