Summary

SchoolMint is seeking an entry-level Accounting Intern for their Accounts Receivable department to gain foundational accounting experience in the ed-tech industry. This position reports to the Revenue Accountant and runs from March 10 to August 31, 2025.

Key Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include invoicing customers, performing weekly collection calls and emails regarding outstanding balances, monitoring accounts for timely payments, processing deposits, and assisting with interim and annual audits. The intern will also respond to customer inquiries professionally and escalate issues as needed.
Skills & Tools: Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong willingness to learn, basic Excel proficiency, and familiarity with Google Sheets preferred. The ability to work independently and accurately is essential.
Qualifications: Applicant must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. No prior work experience is required, though strong fundamentals and the ability to grasp new concepts quickly are important.
Location: Hybrid in Lafayette, Louisiana, United States
Compensation: $15.00 – $20.00/hour

Job Description

SchoolMint is seeking an entry level Accounting Intern for our Accounts Receivable department. This position will report to the Revenue Accountant. This is an exciting opportunity to learn accounting from the ground-up, develop skills and gain experience that will serve as the basis for an Accounting career in the tech industry.

Responsibilities

  • Invoice customer per contract terms
  • Perform weekly collection calls/emails to customers regarding outstanding balances
  • Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely payments
  • Respond to all customers inquiries in a professional and timely manner and escalate as needed
  • Deposit checks and/or apply payments
  • Assist with the interim and annual audits, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • College student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Willingness to learn and ability to grasp new concepts quickly
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and accurately
  • Basic Excel skills and Google Sheets a plus
