Business Development Representative
Role Summary:
The Business Development (BDR) will have the unique opportunity to build our company’s brand and customer loyalty while assisting our teams in expanding our customer base. Core responsibilities include identifying, researching, prospecting, and creating new qualified opportunities that align with HomeTown’s ideal customer profile and value proposition. Our BDRs will partner with Business Development Managers (BDMs) to develop strategic account plans, generate a strong pipeline of deal flow from outbound prospecting and serve as a key contributor in developing HomeTown’s outbound channels.
The BDR will work closely with cross-functional teams such as Sales, Customer Success, Marketing and Product to ensure goal attainment and that our customers are experiencing excellent outcomes. A successful BDR will possess both a customer success/service and sales skill set, to drive engagement with decision-makers and influencers within our existing top K-12 Accounts.
Duties:
- Expand our pipeline of qualified opportunities and build relationships by opening sales conversations with prospects who align with HomeTown’s ideal customer profile.
- Manage and maintain a pipeline of interested prospects, while strategically partnering with BDMs to create and run playbooks for winning prioritized accounts.
- Create account plans by conducting research and synthesizing information and other materials that reflect a comprehensive understanding of HomeTown’s customers’ needs and how HomeTown delivers value.
- Drive Outbound prospecting via cold calling, email, SMS, sales sequences and nurture campaigns in a collaboration with our Marketing team.
- Efficiently determine a prospect’s interest in our product and initially screen for needs.
- Engage with prospects over email, phone, and other strategic networking channels to qualify and set appointments for BDMs.
- Meet or exceed strategic goals and committed targets by engaging with qualified leads and enabling the next step in the sales cycle.
- Participate in/travel to industry events to meet with potential clients in-person.
- Perform regular follow-up calls or emails and facilitate communication with existing customers to ensure their satisfaction and identify new potential needs.
- Update and maintain CRM database (Salesforce.com).
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position would act as an individual contributor and have no supervisory or direct reports responsibilities.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Minimum 1 years of experience in a professional setting, ideally Sales, Customer Success, or Customer Support or a Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to transform customer conversations into business-driving relationships.
- Sales skills and the ability to analyze and cross-reference customer goals, usage, and product setup to create custom offers that work in their favor.
- Building strong, trusting relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
- Time management skills, with the ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times ever-evolving environment.
- Consult with various members of leadership to develop and implement an effective account-wide strategy that maximizes the value delivered by Hometown and our partners
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, GSuite or related software.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain stationary for a long period of time, including working on a computer.
- Position may also be required to travel to client sites or conferences. This could include standing and walking for prolonged periods of time, and while outdoors in various weather conditions.
