About the Role:
The Assistant Copy Editor performs daily copyediting tasks assigned to them in accordance with the client expectations as overseen by the Client Manager and/or Senior Copy Editor.
How you will make an impact:
- Applies an understanding of the copyediting process.
- Assists with projects as directed by the other members of the Content Management division.
- Gains proficiency in one or more industry-wide style manuals such as AMA or Chicago.
- Understands how the assigned duties relate to others in their department and how their department integrates within their division and business unit.
- Has no supervisory responsibilities.
- Follows established guidelines for communication and demonstrates critical thinking skills in relation to their assigned tasks.
- Meets established productivity goals and deadlines as set by the Copyediting Client Manager and/or Senior Copy Editor.
- Upholds high standards of professionalism and courtesy when working with colleagues and clients.
- Ensures the work environment – virtual and in-person – is free of non-work-related distractions and provides the same environment for co-workers.
What we look for:
- Bachelor’s degree or other relevant education.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Prior experience with copy editing and/or following a style guide is a plus.
- Experience in customer service, time management, and task prioritization.
- Experience working in collaborative team settings.
- Able to work semi-independently with a high attention to detail and meet deadlines.
