As an Assistant Editor at Wiley, you will manage manuscripts through peer review and post-acceptance processes as a subject matter expert in education, ensuring quality and integrity of editorial decisions for high-impact research publications.

Key Responsibilities: Screen and evaluate manuscript submissions for scope and quality, select and invite appropriate peer reviewers, assess reviewer reports to make editorial decisions (accept, reject, revise, transfer), and identify integrity concerns while collaborating with global editorial teams.
Skills & Tools: Strong understanding of peer review and scholarly publishing processes, excellent written and verbal English communication, meticulous attention to detail, proficiency with editorial management systems (Editorial Manager, ScholarOne), and collaborative ability to work across global teams.
Qualifications: PhD or advanced degree in Education or related field with 3–5 years of research experience in education specializations (educational technology, AI, digital learning, STEM, curriculum design, etc.) and 1–2 years of experience in scholarly publishing in an editorial or peer review capacity.

Compensation: $38K–$52K/yr (estimated)

About the Role: As an Assistant Editor, you will be part of a global editorial ecosystem, working as a subject matter expert to manage manuscripts through the peer review and post-acceptance process. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality, integrity, and efficiency of editorial decisions while supporting the publication of high-quality research. This role is ideal for researchers looking to transition into scientific publishing and apply their subject expertise in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. How you will make an impact Manage manuscript screening and peer review activities within your subject area Evaluate submissions for journal scope, quality, and suitability, and take editorial decisions with clear rationale Identify, select, and invite appropriate reviewers Assess reviewer reports and make decisions (accept, reject, revise, or transfer) Evaluate revised manuscripts and determine next steps or final decisions Identify suitable journals for manuscript transfer within the portfolio when required Raise integrity concerns identified during manuscript screening through appropriate channels Participate in pilot projects and contribute to process improvements Collaborate with editorial teams and stakeholders across the organization What we are looking for PhD or equivalent advanced degree in Education or related field (strong research experience required if no PhD) 3–5 years of research experience in relevant fields of Education such as educational technology, AI, digital learning, STEM education, curriculum design, teaching & learning, higher education, educational policy, or inclusive education 1–2 years of experience in scholarly publishing, preferably in an editorial or peer review role Strong understanding of the peer review and publishing process Proven interest in scholarly publishing Experience as a reviewer, editor, or editorial board member Familiarity with editorial systems such as Editorial Manager, ScholarOne, or similar Understanding of editorial policies and scholarly publishing practices Exposure to Open Access publishing models Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Strong attention to detail and ability to manage workload effectively Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across global teams We power infinite possibilities.
