The Business Intelligence Developer supports University Development and Alumni Relations by designing and implementing reports and dashboards that drive fundraising analytics. This role translates business requirements into technical solutions while collaborating across teams to enhance institutional reporting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities: Gather reporting and dashboard requirements, develop BI solutions from multiple data sources, manage project plans for reporting initiatives, and transition solutions to end users with training and ongoing support. Maintain report accuracy and performance while completing ad-hoc requests and identifying opportunities to enhance processes.

Skills & Tools: Strong SQL, SSIS, and SSRS technical skills with proficiency in programming languages including .NET, Python, and R; excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities with capacity to explain technical information to non-technical audiences.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required with 2+ years of significant programming and data analytics experience or equivalent education and experience combination. Knowledge of current and emerging BI technologies and ability to work independently and collaboratively under deadline pressure.

Job Description

University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR's endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University's endowment.

The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is part of the Advancement Services and Analytics team within University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) and will participate in business analysis activities to gather reporting and dashboard requirements. Translate business requirements into technical specifications and develop reports and dashboards drawing from multiple data sources. Develop and implement project plans for reporting initiatives and other BI projects, including facilitating regular stakeholder meetings to provide status updates and ensure alignment. Collaborate with other specialists to convert legacy reports to SSRS, Tableau, or other new BI platforms, as appropriate. Transition developed reports and dashboards to respective teams and deliver training to support effective adoption and use. Provide ongoing support to maintain the availability, accuracy, and performance of developed reports and dashboards. Complete ad-hoc user requests while proactively identifying opportunities to enhance reporting processes, improve monitoring requests, and deliver value to stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree

Required Experience:
2+ years significant programming and data analytics experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong SQL, SSIS, and SSRS technical skills

Proficiency using programming languages & applications (SQL, .NET, MS Office, SSRS, Tableau, Python, R, and Machine Learning techniques)

Knowledge of a variety of current and emerging technologies

Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills

Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience

Ability to work independently and in a team environment under deadline pressure

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $77,400.00 to USD $94,600.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
