Summary

Full-time Assistant Librarian position at UCF Libraries providing in-person and virtual instruction and research services to support students and faculty across UCF main campus and Seminole State College of Florida. This 12-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment focuses on developing innovative library solutions aligned with the university's scholarly and learning goals.

Key Responsibilities: Delivers instructional and research support for UCF classes at multiple campuses, serves as embedded librarian for courses, acts as liaison for assigned academic programs, and collaborates with faculty and partner college librarians. Participates in UCF Connect administrative events and serves as primary point of contact for students, faculty, and staff library needs.
Skills & Tools: Strong instructional and research consultation abilities with experience in academic library services, effective collaboration and communication skills, and proficiency with library technology and digital resources. Demonstrated ability to work flexibly across multiple locations and with diverse campus partners.
Qualifications: Master's degree in Library Science, Library and Information Science, or related field from an ALA-accredited program required; professional library experience preferred. Knowledge of academic library services, instruction design, and research support is essential.
Location: Orlando, Florida, USA (primary work at UCF main campus with travel to Seminole State College of Florida as needed; night and weekend shifts may be required)
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is $45,000 – $58,000/year based on title, seniority, and location.

Job Description

The Opportunity 
University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries seeks a full-time curious librarian to provide in-person and virtual instruction and research services for students and faculty. This is a 12-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment. This position plays an important role in developing and implementing innovative solutions for library initiatives that support the scholarly, teaching, and learning goals of the university. We will hire at the rank of Assistant Librarian. (NOTE: The primary work location for this position is on UCF main campus, with travel to Seminole State College of Florida as needed. Night and weekend shifts may be required.)  
  
This position reports to the Associate Dean of Academic Engagement. The unit includes librarians assigned to academic programs and learning communities, research consultation, instruction services, and engagement with campus partners. The UCF Connect Librarian is expected to be a collaborative, strategic, and innovative team member. Professional service and scholarly contributions are expected. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides instructional and research support for UCF classes held on the main campus and at the Seminole State College of Florida campus  
  • Serves as embedded librarian for courses as requested 
  • Participates in UCF Connect administrative events and activities 
  • Acts as point of contact with UCF Libraries for students, faculty, and staff 
  • Serves as liaison for assigned programs 
  • Collaborates with subject area faculty and partner college librarians  
  • Works collaboratively with other departments across the UCF Libraries 
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in library and/or information science from an accredited institution, or terminal degree in a relevant field at time of hire.
