Role Snapshot

KIPP Jacksonville seeks a Learning Specialist (ESE) to ensure compliance with Individual Education Plans, teach small groups, and support students with special education needs across multiple grade levels. The role focuses on facilitating the IEP process, meeting student goals, and supporting families through the special education system.

Key Responsibilities: Teach small groups of students, provide support in general education settings, facilitate RtI processes with staff, conduct regular IEP meetings, and work directly with students to achieve IEP goals. Learning Specialists also create positive classroom environments, implement curriculum, assess students, collaborate with teams, and build family relationships.
Skills & Tools: Strong knowledge of special education processes, IEPs, and RTI frameworks; ability to work with diverse learners and multiple grade levels; excellent collaboration and family engagement skills; curriculum implementation and student assessment abilities.
Qualifications: Must hold FLDOE (Florida Department of Education) certification to be eligible for instructional stipends. Experience in special education support, ESE services, or related instructional roles is expected.

Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks Learning Specialists (LS) for the 2026-27 school year. The LS focuses on ensuring that KIPP Jacksonville is in compliance with all Individual Education Plans (IEPs), teaching small groups of students, providing support facilitation in general education settings, and working with families around the special education process. The LS will work typically with multiple grade levels and will help facilitate the RtI process with staff. The LS will facilitate regular meetings around student IEPs and will work directly with students to ensure their IEP goals are met.

All Learning Specialists are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing our curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with our families, and other duties as assigned.  Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their School Principal.

Depending on the grade levels the LS works with, the model and schedule can vary slightly.

Our current starting salary for a first-year Learning Specialist is $50,000

*The salary offered in the DocuSign doesnโ€™t include any stipends for which the candidate may be eligible. In our current year of paying out millage stipends, certified New-to-KIPP instructional staff received a historical average of $11,000 with the addition of receiving TSIA stipends. There are other opportunities to earn money at KIPP Jax in the form of additional stipends. This role will only be eligible for instructional stipends if they have their FLDOE certification.
