Role Snapshot

Reading Interventionist who delivers focused, small-group reading intervention instruction to improve student literacy outcomes and grade-level proficiency. Collaborates with classroom teachers and school teams to monitor progress and adjust instructional practices based on data.

Key Responsibilities: Deliver targeted reading intervention lessons through push-in or pull-out instruction, develop individualized lesson plans, screen and evaluate students, monitor progress using district data systems, and collect data to share with classroom teachers. Participate in professional development, attend meetings, and support teachers in identifying student academic strengths and weaknesses.
Skills & Tools: Strong expertise in reading instruction methodologies, data analysis, and differentiated teaching techniques. Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with teachers, administrators, and families; ability to adapt instruction based on student needs and assessment results.
Qualifications: Likely requires a bachelor's degree and state reading specialist certification or equivalent literacy intervention training; prior experience in reading intervention, special education, or Title I instruction preferred. Knowledge of literacy assessment tools and data tracking systems required.
Location: In-Person - St. Louis, MO
Compensation: $32K–$48K/yr (estimated)

Job Description

Position type: Full time, exempt, 10 month

Grant Funded through the 2026-27 school year

What you will do…

  • Provide and deliver focused reading intervention instruction to students in small group settings.

  • Develop and deliver lesson plans appropriate to the needs and abilities of assigned students through push-in or pull out instruction.

  • Use a variety of instructional techniques and reading materials appropriate for the age and skill level of students for the purpose of improving student outcomes and achievement.

  • Assists with the screening and evaluation of students.

  • Frequently monitor progress of students receiving intervention services in order to adjust instructional practice through multiple data systems used by our district. 

  • Collects data to share with classroom teachers.

  • Participates in monthly professional development sessions.

  • Attend GLC meetings and parent meetings as required.

  • Attend and lead professional development opportunities to support students and the school.

  • Provide input to teams regarding student academic strengths and weaknesses.

  • Provide the high quality instruction time needed to move students to grade level proficiency.

  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the school administrators.

  • Travel Requirement -travels to school buildings and professional meetings as required.

  • Follows all district policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.
