Role Snapshot

Part-time Program Facilitator role with Elevo Learning to lead engaging sports and social-emotional learning activities for elementary students (TK-6th grade) in West Contra Costa Unified School District during school day lunch/recess periods.

Key Responsibilities: Motivate students through sports drills, games, and scrimmages in basketball, flag football, kickball, pickleball, soccer, track and field, tennis, and volleyball. Manage student behavior for up to 20 students, assist with homework, distribute snacks, ensure safety during outdoor activities, and serve as a positive role model.
Skills & Tools: Strong organizational and behavioral management capabilities with ability to implement engaging lesson plans and adapt to student needs. Must be approachable, empathetic, patient, and comfortable building trust with children while collaborating with school staff and utilizing online platforms.
Qualifications: Experience working with elementary or middle school students with preferred 1-2 years relevant experience, 48 college credits or Instructional Assistant exam completion, and reliable transportation. Must be comfortable teaching provided curriculum for multiple sports without requiring expert-level proficiency.

After-School Coach | Program Facilitator - West Contra Costa Unified School District

Schedule: Part-time; Monday - Tuesday and Thursday;

Time: 10:00am - 1:00pm

Location: Various school sites within the West Contra Costa Unified School District

Expected Hourly Rate: $22/hr

Start and End Date: 02/27/2025 to 6/11/2025

Sports Curriculum: You will be teaching the basics of the following sports, running games and scrimmages for students during the After School program.

THE ROLE 

  • Motivate TK/K-6th grade students through social-emotional learning and teach sports focused curriculum
  • Lead drills, games, scrimmages centered around the following sports: basketball, flag football, kickball, pickleball, soccer, track and field, tennis, volleyball. (You do not need to be an expert at all listed sports but do need to be familiar with them and comfortable teaching provided curriculum)
  • Assist with homework completion and snack distribution. 
  • Effectively manage student behavior (up to 20 students) with minimal assistance.
  • Ensure student safety during outdoor activities.
  • Work effectively with staff and embrace professional development.
  • Serve as a positive role model to the students to build kids’ self-esteem and emotional wellness

ABOUT YOU

  • Have been successful working with elementary and/or middle school kids.
  • Understand and implement engaging lesson plans while maintaining accuracy and organization in activities.
  • Effectively support kids’ behavioral management needs.
  • Connect with students and foster positive learning experiences.
  • Can improvise, adapt, and take initiative when needed by paying close attention to student needs.
  • Are approachable, empathetic, patient, and able to build trust with kids.
  • Present yourself as a confident leader and a positive role model.
  • Are comfortable utilizing online platforms for training and resources.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with school administrators, parents, and fellow coaches.

     Additional Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, complete and pass a Live-Scan background check, and TB screening.
  • 1-2 years of working experience in education, coaching, child development, or other child-focused experiences strongly preferred.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Willing to follow COVID-19 protocols outlined by the school.

  • * 48 College Credits or Taking an Instructional Assistant exam (needed before they can be scheduled).
