Role Snapshot
The Staff Learning Scientist applies deep expertise in learning science to design and evaluate K-12 educational products, leading research studies and collaborating with cross-functional teams. This role drives product development grounded in educational research and cognitive models of student learning.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and refine learning models grounded in educational research, lead the design and implementation of research studies examining K-12 ELA constructs, and work across teams to develop and iteratively refine products. Provide hands-on research support, translate research expertise into validation studies, mentor junior colleagues, and document findings through technical reports and white papers.
Skills & Tools: Deep expertise in learning science, ELA education, and educational technology with strong proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Ability to think flexibly and creatively about applying research within product constraints and communicate complex ideas clearly to non-experts.
Qualifications: PhD in developmental psychology, ELA, reading education, curriculum and instruction, cognitive psychology, or related field with 8+ years of relevant job experience preferably designing or evaluating educational technology. National recognition in the field such as published work or service on federal grant review boards is desired.
