Summary

Director of Network Engineering responsible for leading and overseeing the planning, direction, control, and evaluation of the College's Network Engineering team and enterprise networking environments. This leadership role ensures reliable network infrastructure supporting a multi-location higher education institution.

Key Responsibilities: Provide direct supervision and evaluation to Network Engineering staff, plan and evaluate completion of scheduled projects and tasks, and collaborate with institutional users to understand their needs and business requirements. Resolve IT system problems, establish operational goals consistent with institutional mission, and develop execution of strategic priorities.
Skills & Tools: Advanced knowledge of Cisco wired and wireless systems in enterprise multilocation environments, project management expertise, and IT systems troubleshooting. Strong leadership, collaboration, and strategic planning capabilities required.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required with preference for degree in networking technology or information technology management; five years of experience managing an enterprise networking environment required. Experience with higher education computer services departments and project management certifications preferred.
Location: USA (Community College of Baltimore County, Maryland area)
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is $95,000 – $130,000/year based on title, seniority, and location.

Job Description

The purpose of this class is to provide leadership and oversee planning, direction, control and evaluation of all work associated with the day-to-day operation of the College's Network Engineering team and networking environments.

Bachelor's degree required, degree in networking technology or information technology management preferred. Five (5) years of experience managing an enterprise networking environment required. Experience with Cisco wired and wireless systems in an enterprise, multilocation environment required. Experience working with higher education computer services departments and project management certifications preferred. 

  1. Provide direct supervision and evaluation to the Network Engineering staff.
  2. Plan and evaluate for the completion of scheduled projects and tasks.
  3. Develop the execution of strategic priorities and operational objectives.
  4. Collaborate and coordinate with institutional users to understand their needs and business requirements. 
  5. Resolve problems related to IT systems
  6. Establish goals and objectives for network operations consistent with CCBC's mission, vision and values.
