The Operations Manager executes daily school operations and maintains data integrity for a KIPP charter school, serving as the backbone of front office functionality and student information system accuracy. This role ensures compliance, supports family experience, and protects instructional time through reliable operational systems.

Key Responsibilities: Manage attendance, enrollment, and Student Information System (SIS) processes with high data accuracy; execute daily arrival/dismissal and transportation coordination; serve as primary family contact for responsive communication and customer service. Maintain audit-ready student records, coordinate logistics for school events and assessments, and support vendors while escalating issues to regional operations.
Skills & Tools: Strong organizational and task prioritization abilities with expertise in documentation management, calendar coordination, and workflow logistics. Project management experience with proficiency in troubleshooting data/system discrepancies and conducting logistical assessments.
Qualifications: Experience in K-12 school operations or similar administrative roles with demonstrated knowledge of school operational systems, compliance requirements, and Student Information Systems. High school diploma required; relevant certifications or college coursework in operations, education administration, or business preferred.
Location: In-Person - St. Louis, MO
Compensation: $55K–$75K/yr (estimated)

Job Description

Position type: Full time, exempt, 12 Month    

Reporting & Collaboration​

  • Direct Manager: You report to the School Leader (Principal), who is accountable for overall school performance, including academic outcomes, culture, and operations.

  • Direct Reports: You do not manage any direct reports. 

  • Lateral Leadership: You may advise and support grade-level teams, department chairs, and teachers for implementation of schoolwide initiatives.

  • Lateral Managers: You do not have lateral or matrixed managers; however, you are expected to partner closely with peer Assistant School Leader and School leader to ensure coherence across academic, culture, and operational priorities.

Autonomy & Decision Making​

  • The Manager of Operations owns school-level execution of operational systems and data integrity within regional guardrails. This role does not own vendor contracts, regional compliance policy, or transportation vendor management; concerns are escalated to school leadership or regional operations partners.

Inputs: What will I be doing in my day to day work?

Operational Systems & Data Integrity (Owner):

  • Own daily execution of front office operations and Student Information System (SIS) accuracy, ensuring compliance with school, regional, state, and federal requirements.

  • Lead attendance execution (tardies, early dismissals, daily attendance processes) and coordinate timely family follow-up.

  • Execute enrollment, re-enrollment, and withdrawal processes with accurate documentation and data tracking.

  • Maintain organized, audit-ready student files and compliance documentation.

  • Support assessment logistics and data entry in coordination with school leadership.

Arrival/Dismissal & Transportation Execution:

  • Execute daily arrival and dismissal systems; maintain accurate transportation rosters and issue logs.

  • Communicate day-to-day transportation updates to families and staff; escalate vendor issues to school leadership or regional operations (does not own vendor management).

Front Office & Family Experience:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for families, delivering clear communication and responsive customer service.

  • Maintain effective school communication systems (calls, messages, family-facing tools).

  • Ensure front office readiness and professional, welcoming school entry experience.

Operations & Logistics:

  • Execute purchasing and inventory processes in alignment with regional procedures.

  • Coordinate with vendors (food service, custodial, technology) for daily operations and escalate issues appropriately.

  • Maintain organized shared spaces and operational readiness to protect instructional time.

Collaboration & School Culture:

  • Partner with school leadership to ensure operations align to academic and culture priorities.

  • Support schoolwide events and assessments through logistics and documentation.

  • Uphold school norms and contribute to a positive, respectful school environment.
