Summary

French Speaking Multi-Disciplinary Teaching Artist position with Togetherhood, a marketplace for independent enrichment providers. Design and lead engaging after-school French classes for elementary school students across New York City for terms ranging from 6 to 18 weeks.

Key Responsibilities: Create age-appropriate curricula and outcome-based lesson plans for French classes, specify required materials, arrive consistently on time, and build memorable learning experiences that foster student passion for the French language.
Skills & Tools: Experienced classroom instruction and curriculum design, ability to create positive class community and build student relationships, enthusiasm for teaching young learners, cooperative and flexible work style, strong work ethic, and fluency in French.
Qualifications: Demonstrated experience teaching school-age children with at least three professional references, NYC-based location required, passion for education and personal development in learners.
Location: In-Person - New York, NY
Compensation: $45K–$65K/yr (estimated)

What You'll Do

You will be matched with opportunities to teach after school classes in French to elementary school students at schools, buildings and communities across New York City. These teaching opportunities will be for terms that could last anywhere from 6 weeks to 18 weeks, and will be assigned to you based on the subjects you are experienced in teaching. In this role, you'll have the following responsibilities:

  • Conceive of and create an age-appropriate curriculum for your class
  • Design outcome-based lesson plans in the subject that you are passionate about
  • Specify the materials you'll need to run the course successfully
  • Consistently arrive at your class on time (or early!)
  • Create and memorable experience for the children in your class to help them grow and develop a passion for learning the French language
