ANet seeks an Instructional Content Writer with mathematics expertise to develop high-quality, standards-aligned assessments and educational materials for partner schools. This role directly supports meaningful educational outcomes by providing teachers and students with data-driven assessment products.

Key Responsibilities: Create and design standards-aligned assessment content, write assessment items in multiple formats, gather and resolve stakeholder feedback for revisions, and develop instructional support materials and scoring guides. The writer will also approve final assessment items, research content standards, and meet interim and final deadlines.
Skills & Tools: Expertise in mathematics instructional standards and assessment design principles; strong communication, planning, prioritization, critical thinking, and data orientation skills. Ability to work effectively under deadlines in a fast-paced environment and incorporate feedback from multiple stakeholders.
Qualifications: Prior instructional teaching experience in mathematics and solid understanding of state standards including Common Core State Standards required. Working knowledge of assessment design principles and best practices preferred.
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Compensation: $25–$38/hr

OPPORTUNITY

The Instructional Content Writer provides high-quality, standards-aligned formative products and  assessments to teachers and students in ANet partner schools. ANet’s products and  assessments provide data to teachers and leaders and support them in understanding the learning standards. Reporting to the Vice President of Instructional Products,  the Instructional Content Writer will be responsible for the content development and design of ANet’s Assessments and products.

TRAVEL

Up to 2-3 times a year

RESPONSIBILITIES

Create ANet assessment content and supporting materials aligned with content standards

  • Support item selection and design for all ANet assessments
  • Write assessment items aligned to standards, including but not limited to traditional and technology-enhanced item types
  • Gather and resolve feedback on assessment item content from multiple stakeholders in order to revise
  • Provide specific feedback to assessment writers and editors, ensuring quality and alignment to design principles
  • Approve final assessment items for use
  • Research and analyze content standards and other assessment item examples from states and external organizations
  • Support development of  instructional support materials and scoring guides for assessment items
  • Meet all interim and final deadlines for assessment item creation

REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES

In order to be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following:

Expertise in area of focus:

â—‹ Prior instructional teaching experience in mathematics

○ Solid understanding of mathematics state instructional  standards, including Common Core State Standards

â—‹ Working knowledge of assessment design principles and best practices

Communication:

○ Ability to communicate ideas clearly in meetings or presentations 

Planning and Prioritization:

â—‹ Ability to organize workstreams and take initiative to get assignments completed

â—‹ Work effectively under deadlines and fast paced work

○ Be able to incorporate  input from teams or external sources

Critical Thinking & Data Orientation:

â—‹ Ability to recognize needed data and understand how it impacts decisions in the work or role

The hourly salary range for this position is between $25.50 - $38.76. New hires will start between the range minimum and midpoint ($25.50 - $31.88) based on qualifications assessed during the hiring process, past experience, and internal equity. This position is non-exempt and therefore eligible for overtime pay, which requires advanced approval, in accordance with applicable laws.
