Summary

UC Irvine seeks a strategic Vice Provost of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer to lead technology initiatives and IT governance at a top public research university. The CIO will report to the Provost and serve as a member of the Chancellor's Cabinet, driving operational efficiencies and innovation across the institution.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategic plan, optimize IT governance structures, advance the university's cybersecurity program, and enhance academic and research computing environments. Build an effective IT structure, empower a high-performing team, and foster collaboration across campus, UCI Health, and the UC system.
Skills & Tools: Strong leadership and relationship-building abilities with demonstrated experience managing IT in complex university settings and fostering collaboration across diverse stakeholders. Excellent communication skills, change management expertise, team-building capability, and the ability to inspire innovation while balancing priorities and resources.
Qualifications: Proven track record of leading IT initiatives in higher education with experience recruiting and retaining top talent and implementing strategic change. Deep commitment to the mission, vision, and values of a research-focused institution.
Location: Irvine, California, United States
Compensation: $350,000 – $450,000/year
